Amanda LaCount’s Champs Charter School Dance Team Advances in the Youth American Grand Prix

So, we’re loving that our girl Amanda LaCount is Breaking the Stereotype, one dance at a time. The plus size dance queen is crushing it in music videos and on youtube! But, now, her and her friends are BREAKING RECORDS in New York City! They’ve reportedly been the ONLY high school dance team invited to the Youth American Grand Prix (YAGP) finals in New York City! What???

From their most resent press release and gofundmepage:

“Our dance department is proud to announce that the ensemble group has moved forward to FINALS at YAGP in NYC!  This outstanding accomplishment means our dancers have an immediate need to finance the trip (airfare, hotel, per-diem expenses).  Will you sponsor a dancer?  The team has set up a GoFundMe account for this purpose.  Please click and send our dancers confidently to NYC for success!”

We’re all for LaCount and her team rocking it in New York City. This year marks the first time CHAMPS Charter High School students have competed in the international competition.  We’re going to take time RIGHT now and donate. Will you?

About CHAMPS: Charter High School of the Arts (CHAMPS), is an independent public charter high school offering small arts-infused academic classes.

About YAGP: The organization constitutes the world’s largest global network for the student ballet scholarships. With its motto, “Ensuring the Future of Dance”, YAGP fulfills its mission of dance education through scholarship auditions, master classes, alumni services, educational and outreach activities, performances and films. YAGP reaches over 10,000 dance students yearly through workshops, scholarship auditions, and master classes.
