Catina Sinches, Author of Full Figured Monologues (out in August)
Texas– While Catina Sinches has always had a love for writing, it was a sudden inspiration to help full figured women like herself that helped her decide to write Full Figured Monologues. Full Figured Monologues was written to inspire women just like Sinches and lend a voice to full-figured women. But more than focusing on weight and body issues, Sinches hopes to uncover the truth about plus size women. “People don’t realize that we are not just a size and shape. I think a lot of what’s out there is missing that human element. We’re human beings, first, with real problems like everyone else.”
Paired with other inspiring women, Sinches and her own life experiences provide the backdrop for this wonderful book, coming out in August. ” I wanted to create something on a personal level that was not centered around losing weight nor what was going on in the fashion industry.”
Before her book comes out (which we will obviously review), we had a chance to sit down Sinches and discuss her book, her life, and being bold!
Bold Magazine: What’s the scoop, here? Are you writing a book? A Blog? What?
Catina Sinches: It’s both, really. I’m getting a feel for everyone’s interest and having fun with my blog.
BM: So, when is your book coming out, again?
CS: It is set to release next month. I’m not sure on the exact date but I’ll let you know!
BM: And, who are you publishing under?
CS: I’m self publishing. I tried getting it published the traditional way. But, this is the best way for me. It’s a lot of hard work!
BM: OK, Catina, what are some of your favorites?
Books: I mainly read a lot of self help books and biographies.
Music: You will often catch me listening to old school R&B, neo-soul, jazz and any thing that is easy listening.
Movies: I absolutely love action packed movies. But I also love some movies from the 70’s.
Colors: I really like earth tone colors like brown and green. I also like to mix it up with gold and red.
Activities: You will find me reading, writing, spending time with my daughter, exploring new places around town, attending plays, traveling and spending time with some of my closest friends.
Foods: I would have to say that my favorite food is seafood and my weakness is chocolate chip cookies.
Clothes to wear: I love a nice pair of jeans or khakis with a nice shirt.
Radio Stations: My favorite stations are the ones that play easy listening.
Guilty Pleasures: I absolutely love anything that has to do with crafts. From making jewelry to scrap booking, you name it I like it.
BM: What advice do you have for young plus sized women or women in general?
CS: Just be yourself and love yourself! That’s so important!
BM: Lastly, show us your bold!
CS: I would not be the person I am today without the sacrifices of those who came before me. For that, I will always be grateful.
