Los Angeles, California – Five INCREDIBLE young men and women were introduced as semi finalists for the $100,000 annual prize to help their charity or organization. But, while these youths are certainly impressive, it was less about recognizing a small group of people and more about building an incredible community of doers. Bands like One Republic and Wilson Phillips rocked the mic, Jane Lynch was hysterical, and celebrities like skater Tony Hawk and Will Farrell made their presences known during this incredible evening of inspiration and selflessness.

Demi Lovato performed her hit single, Skyscraper. Kim Kardashian and Nick Cannon presented. It was truly an amazing night of special people willing to make a change. Even the commercials were centered around charitable organizations!

While Sarah Cronk took home the $100,000 2011 Do Something Award, the other 4 contestants received $10,000 from DoSomething.org, and EVERYONE who participated in any way came out winners. We feel great just writing about it! Hey, maybe 2012 will include a Do Something Magazine award! *Wink Wink*

Since 1996, DoSomething.org has honored the nation’s best world-changers, ages 25 and under. The Do Something Award is the premiere national award for social action. Nominees and winners represent the pivotal “do-ers” in their field, cause, or issue.

DoSomething.org is one of the largest organizations in the US that helps youth rock causes they care about. A driving force in creating a culture of volunteerism, DoSomething.org is on track to get two million young people involved by 2011. By utilizing the web, television, mobile, and pop culture, DoSomething.org inspires, empowers and celebrates a generation of doers: young people who recognize the need to do something, believe in their ability to get it done, and take action.
