We’re all about indies that empower women! Have you seen Lady Bird, yet? it’s a fantastic movie about a young woman finding herself on her search for the right college.

From IMDB– Christine “Lady Bird” MacPherson is a high school senior from the “wrong side of the tracks.” She longs for adventure, sophistication, and opportunity, but finds none of that in her Sacramento Catholic high school. LADY BIRD follows the title character’s senior year in high school, including her first romance, her participation in the school play, and most importantly, her applying for college.

Lady Bird is Greta Gerwig’s (click the link for a great article in Time Magazine about her) first as a solo director: in 2008, she co-directed Nights and Weekends with Joe Swanberg. Saoirse Ronan, who’s been on the scene since 2003, stars as Christine “Lady Bird” MacPherson. Mom, Marion, is played by Laurie Metcalf (Roseanne). A comedy, “Lady Bird” features a packed cast of funnies. But, if you want a great plus-size talent, check out Beanie Feldstein who plays best friend, Julie Steffans.

Feldstein has been doing more and more comedic work over the past few years. But, her true superpower in “Lady Bird” revolves around her dramatic hits with one liners like “Some people aren’t built happy, you know.” and “You can’t do anything unless you’re the center of attention!”

Lady bird is just over an hour and a half and is definitely a must see!
