Oh em glee, Bold Babes! We have got the absolute best body positive peep to kick off our re-launch with! Did you just LOVE AMC’s Dietland? We totally did. And, guess what? We totally got to hang with Dietland’s Jen Ponton for a bit to talk about her role. Ponton plays Rubi alongside Joy Nash and Tamara Tunie and we can’t wait to write up our final review of the season, because they all totally
rocked!
From her website bio, “Actress Jen Ponton is a comedic force, consistently serving up big laughs on screen. A Muppet enthusiast, horror fanatic, and body love activist, Jen’s seasoned resume continues to grow.” And we totally agree!
Jen joined AMC’s Dietland cast as the recurring character, Rubi. Rubi is the resident fat activist of Calliope House, the feminist enclave and refuge of Verena Baptist (Robin Weigert).
Ya know, we learned a lot about Jen when we did some research on her, and realized how we’d seen that GAWGEOUS familiar face. Ponton has guest appeared on The Blacklist, 30 Rock, The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Deadbeat, Orange is the New Black, Blue Bloods, Boardwalk Empire, Law & Order: SVU, The Slap, and The Good Wife! WOW!
Jen’s film credits include a starring role in the indie film Love on the Run with Frances Fisher and Steve Howey, the Warner Brothers film Going in Style, and Chuck with Liev Schreiber. She is also a producer and writer with several pilots in development, including a web series.
Look, we’re not in the habit of touting amazing people! Let’s let the interview do the talking for us! Ponton TOTALLY killed it and let us be the first to say that she’s one of the few plus actresses who gets it! When you speak to Jen Ponton, you feel like you’re speaking to a body positive advocate who happens to act, not the other way around. We are so proud to say we had a chance to talk to her and we hope she’ll remember us when she’s an even bigger superstar! Check out the interview below and BE BOLD!
