Happy Fat Fitness Friday Bold Babes! We’re so excited to chat a bit more about one of our absolute FAVE humans… Amanda LaCount. In the next few weeks, you’ll be seeing quite a bit on this plus sized painter of hip hop dance poetry! Because, she’s agreed to sit down and interview with us, which we’re super excited about!

But, aside from some of the articles we’ve written on LaCount, do you know what this #BreakingTheStereotype dancer has been up to? Let’s fill you in:

Amanda LaCount is a professional hip hop dancer, actress, singer, choreographer, and model (Yes, you hear that right, she was recently signed to a modeling agency in Los Angeles!) She has been dancing since she was 2 years old.  LaCount danced competitively and attended Denver School of the Arts as a Dance Major from 6th-9th grade.  But, in the past two years, she’s blown up from dancing on the Ellen DeGeneres show to being featured in a video with Meaghan Trainor! And, she’s been featured in Miami Curves Week where your very own Bold Magazine was a media sponsor! She has also appeared in numerous magazine articles and music videos.  Amanda has also been shot for print ads for RayBan, Citibank, Prom Girl, and Beyond Yoga. Check out her awesome JC Penny video here:

In January 2015, Amanda LaCount took a huge leap and moved from Colorado to Los Angeles to follow her dream of becoming a professional dancer and actress.  Some of her most notable performances include dancing with Meghan Trainor on Radio Disney Music Awards, choreographing and dancing for Sony UK in Ryan Blyth’s “Raise A Glass”, dancing on The Ellen Show with Keala Settle singing “This Is Me” from The Greatest Showman movie, dancing with Disney’s “Descendants 2” Cast on DWTS, dancing on 2 Episodes of The Voice, dancing in Katy Perry’s “Swish Swish” music video feat. Nicki Minaj, opening for En Vogue at Kings Theatre in NYC, dancing on the WNBA LA Sparks Crew for 2 years, and her own National Dance Tour last summer “Amanda LaCount Live”.

LaCount has her own movement #breakingthestereotype which promotes body positivity and the belief that any “body” can be a dancer.  She is breaking the stereotype that all dancers must be tall, thin and blonde.  Her philosophy is “If you like it, do it.  It’s as simple as that.”

Amanda is shooting a Film being directed by Mario Torres Jr. (the creator of Shape of Water) called “My Friend Charlie” in the Role of Jenny in NYC at the end of October.  Also, this spring  Amanda will begin shooting the feature film “The Lesson Plan”.  She has been cast in the Role of Samantha.  Some of Amanda’s other acting credits include one of Abby’s Girls in “Fat Camp” on BET, 7 Episodes of “School of Rock”, Co-Starring Role of Emma on the new show “Splitting Up Together”, and Co-Starring Role of Lisa on the new show “Good Girls”.
