Happy #fatisnotaviolationfriday y’all! We are still going to be writing up our review of the Shrill TV show with Aidy Bryant. But, so many folks have been asking “Hey, are size acceptance events new?”

No! They are not. They have been around for decades. We wrote an article about Brie Brown and her pioneering of these events in the 1990s. but, what about other organizations?

Have you heard about NAAFA? Founded in 1969, NAAFA is a non-profit civil rights organization dedicated to ending size discrimination in all of its forms. NAAFA’s goal is to help build a society in which people of every size are accepted with dignity and equality in all aspects of life. NAAFA will pursue this goal through advocacy, public education, and support.

“We are proud to announce NAAFA’s 50th Anniversary Conference being held in Las Vegas, NV on June 14 – 16, 2019 at Sam’s Town Hotel and Gambling Hall.”  – NAAFA Team

This conference marks a major milestone for the organization and for size acceptance/ fat liberation and we love it!
