Let’s face it: these days, you can’t open a newspaper, magazine, or social media platform without seeing words like “diversity”, “inclusivity”, and “body positivity,” especially during world-famous New York Fashion Week. But what do they really MEAN?
That question was answered in a powerful, beautiful way by Slink Magazine , the bi-monthly fashion, beauty, health, culture, and lifestyle bible for women size 14+. Their “Fashion for All” event on Monday, September 9th at We Work in New York City was a true debate on “the future of inclusivity in Fashion and NYFW.”
Hosted by Slink Magazine US Editor Renee Cafaro (@foxyroxyfashion), the evening was a potent mix of networking, positive energy, and inventive ideas for the future of fashion. Panelists included a diverse group of industry innovators such as plus size blogger and celebrity stylist Meaghan O’Connor (@meaghanpoconnor), Collect Interior (@collectinterior) designer Stacey Alvarez, model and founder of The Real Catwalk 2019, KhrystyAna (@khrystyana), founder of fashion-forward plus size workwear brand Henning (https://henningnyc.com/), Lauren Chan (@lcchan), designer of Burnett New York (@burnettnewyork), Emily Burnett, and Jessica Raiter, Style Director of 11 Honoré (@11honore), the first size-inclusive shopping site for designer brands!
The question “What Does Inclusivity Mean To You?” raised surprisingly varied answers that provoked unexpected discussion and insightful questions from each other and audience members, leading to a lively exchange of views that no doubt got many wheels turning for future fashion projects!
Guests included well-known wide-calf boot designer Pamela Gross Ammeter of Boots By Pamela, sexy plus size models Sabina Michel (@sabina_michel), Lisa Castil, Jennifer Kathleen, and Sarah Bolt , photographer and content creator Lydia Hudgens , and plus size super blogger Lisa Schoenberger of MustangSallyTwo.
Slink expresses its heartfelt gratitude to all those who made the evening possible, especially ArtwingPR and sponsors CALA VELA (@calavelany) inclusive belt bags, Dulce Vida Organic Tequila (@vidatequila), and WeWork (@wework).

With a mixture of class and sass, the goal of Medeiros Fashion Public Relations is to place plus size fashion on an equal footing with straight size fashion. Emma declares, “There’s absolutely NO reason for them to be separate and, once I accomplish that, I can die a happy woman!”
